What’s On

Mendooran Food Festival weekend 4-5 May

The program CLICK HERE, tickets CLICK HERE and cycle routes CLICK HERE are available for the Mendooran Food Cycle weekend on 4-5 May 2024, a CWC fundraiser. Bookings are essential by 30 April (please) for catering purposes, and it also for telling us whether we need to organise extra sessions/destinations.

The weekend emphasises self-guided cycling, with the CWC and local businesses providing destinations and events to cycle to. The program includes ‘pop up’ cafes in the bush, distillery tastings, local produce being used in the evening meal at the Mendooran Showground, architecture/heritage stroll, insight in the honey industry, a Sunday morning market at Blue Sky Cheese. The key get-together event after your day of self-guided cycling is the “Tastes of Mendooran”, starting at 5pm with platters on Saturday 4 May at the Showground BUY TICKET

Importantly the weekend is planned so that it caters for cyclists and non-cyclists. All welcome.

1. Before the Ride

INTENTION TO RIDE form: It is very valuable for the CWC to know how many people are using the trail and feedback – it helps us make a better trail! Go to this link, Intention to Ride on CWC Trail (google.com) to anonymously detail number of riders, start and end point and comments. If you would like feedback to yourself, in the comments section leave an email address or other contact details.

ALERTS & CONDITION OF TRAIL – road closures, fires etc Before riding the trail check for warnings, road closures etc. It remains your responsibility as an independent rider to directly check the official sources. Useful resources are:

  • Road closures for Dubbo Regional Council, Warrumbungle Shire at Live Traffic NSW. Road closures Mid-Western Regional Council displayed at their Disaster Dashboard.
  • Bushfires go to Fires Near Me
  • Relevant for going between Mendooran and Ballimore is the National Parks site: Goonoo National Park | Local alerts | NSW National Parks
  • The CWC group Facebook site often brings you the latest news directly from trail users and locals.
  • The CWC Committe tries to bring together the above information in the map below which includes the route of the CWC. This map is not the final word the official sites need to be directly checked by a rider for the most recent changes.

The map below can be updated remotely by members of the CWC team. If you come across a situation that you believe should be notified to other riders post on Facebook or email [email protected] and ask the CWC team to update this map.
